The Core Values of Our Movement

Rooted in the rich legacy of Big Bethel AME Church, the Social Action Commission mobilizes our congregation and community

to address systemic injustice, uplift the vulnerable, and

advocate for lasting change.

We ground every action in Scripture and the AME tradition, letting worship and theological conviction shape public work so that service, advocacy, and policy engagement flow from our faith.

We prioritize programs and policies that protect the vulnerable, restore rights, and treat every person with dignity—delivering services that meet needs while challenging systems that produce inequality.

We listen first (needs assessment), measure outcomes, and use evidence to design, evaluate, and transparently steward resources so our ministry produces real, sustained impact.

We care for creation and community—practicing environmental stewardship and fiscal responsibility while building respectful, reciprocal partnerships with congregations, civic groups, funders, and neighbors.
